PARK FOR KHANDALLAH
DEPUTATION TO THE CITY
COUNCIL. A deputation from the. Khandallah Progressive Association waited on the Citv Council last evening in connection with the 11 acres which was purchased as a park some time ago. Mr. M. S. Galloway pointed out that on the amalgamation of Onslow with Wellington in 1919 consideration was given to the provision of a suitable play area, and after a visit of the Mayor and council they very wisely purchased the area mentioned, but since then nothin" had been spent on the park, whilst the population had increased very considerably. tne nearest recreation ground to hhandallah was Anderson Park in the city. Ihey asked that there should be no further delay in putting the Khandallah ground in order. He commended the work as one on which the unemployed could be employed with greater profit than some of the other works that were being done at the present time. The plans had been prepared, and it only needed the word “go” from the council to get sometliing done that would be n benefit to the district. The cost would be about £2500, and he hoped that before the council left the chamber they would decide to go forward with this work. The Mayor (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood), in replying, ‘ said the council recognised the importance of providing a playing area in the rapidly-growing district of Khandallah. The council, would consider how far it could, go in meeting tno wishes of the deputation.
