RUGBY LEAGUE

MATCH ON BASIN RESERVE. The Rugby League contest between Wellington and South Auckland at the Basin Reserve to-morrow is expected to attract a good attendance. The match has been specially arranged by the New Zealand Rugby League for the purpose of trying out leading players in these two districts for the Rugby League All Blacks, who leave for England next month. The game will commence at 3 p.m., and spectators will have an opportunity of seeing the merits of the League code. OHRISTOHURCH.

"All the more honour,” he said, "to the nurses concerned.” Ante-Natal Work Necessary.

"It is obvious that we have to do more in regard to ante-natal work,” Sir Truby continued, "a department of our work which has been admirably provided for by tho Department working hand in hand with the society. Every woman expecting a child is invited, begged, to come and receive that training which is supplied by the society. The public does not realise the enormous benefit, and the saving of child life which would be made possible if every woman had that ante-natal training which is offered. In view of the agencies now at work, and the way in which the Department and the society are working together, there is no doubt that the total infantile death-rate will no longer be 4 per cent., but will be reduced to 3 per cent., and in the future even to 2 per cent.
