A feature of the qualifying stage was the phenomenal brilliancy of Bobby Jones, whom Harry Vardon, Joshua Taylor, and Harold Hilton describe as the greatest golfer of all time. The newspaper “Star” describes ■ Jones’s play as the finest exhibition of golf in the whole history of the championship. He gave a magnificent example of the unison of head, heart, and hands. The “Evening News” declares he is "super-perfect-” The writer could . not recall another competition where an amateur in thirty-six holes returned only one s.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
