BOYS’ INSTITUTE
The" monthly meeting of the Boys’ Institute and S. A. Rhodes Home for Boys was held in the Institute building last evening, when the following members were present: Mr. G. A. Troup (in the chair), Mesdames J. Hislop and G. T. Bell, Messrs. J. Hislop, W. H. Clark, H. Leah, G. R. Baudinet, and W. S. Webber. The director’s report stated that, in spite of the colder weather, the attendances at the Institute each evening were ag large as ever. The boxing championships were to be held shortly, and the boys were training hard. During the month a junior band had been formed of boya ranging from 12 to 15 years. The Scouts were training for the indoor Tally to be held in the Wellington district shortly. It was with deep regret, continued the report, that the boys and officials of the Institute learnt of the death of Mr. Coulter, who had been of great assistance to the Institute at its Sunday evening services. At the close of the meeting, a report of the building extension I'und was submitted, disclosing a very satisfactory state of affairs.
