FRENCH UNDERCUT BRITISH TRADERS
IN NEW ZEALAND MARKET OWING TO DEPRECIATION OF FRANC London, June 6. The Federation of British Industries, states that many British exporters to New Zealand complain that owing to the depreciation of the franc French firms are seriously undercutting British firms in the New Zealand market, despite the preferential tariff The federation points out that since the withdrawal of the legislation against depreciated currencies, when the German mark was re-established, no means exist to safeguard British traders against countries with depreciated currencies. The federation has approached the New Zealand Office with a view to remedial measures.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
