SUCCESSFUL REVOLT
WITHOUT LOSS OF LIFE MILITARY DICTATORSHIP IN PORTUGAL Lisbon, May 30. The Portuguese military revolution was successful. The Government has resigned, and the military leaders are conferring with the President in order to form a new Cabinet.—Sydney “Sun” Cable (Rec. May 31, 7.15 p.m.) Lisbon, May 31. The revolution was victorious throughout the country without loss of life. There was not even rioting. A military dictatorship has now been established, aiming at the provisional abolition of Parliament. Troops have now replaced the police everywhere. This _is the twenty-fifth large-scale revolution in Portugal since King Manoel was overthrown in 1910.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
