Meteorological Office, Wellington, May 31, 4 p.m. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, increasing and backing to easterlies north of Westport and Kaikoura, and easterly to northerly elsewhere. . Weather cold and changeable generally, with occasional drizzling rain on the east coast districts of the North Island. Barometer has a rising tendency, but is likely to fall again everywhere shortly.
