SOHO CLUB MURDER

Charles Emile Berliner, who was arrested at Newliaven, was charged at Marlborough Street with the murder of Charles Ballada, and remanded.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [The foreign quarter of Soho was thrilled on the evening of April 5 bv a man dashing hatless from a club with blood streaming from a wound in his head, despite which he escaped. The police found a. man dead in the club. They drew a cordon round the vicinitv and detained members of the club while investigating. It is believed that the men quarrelled suddenly about a woman while playing cards and drinking. Detectives boarded a Channel steamer at Newhaven late at night, just before she departed for Dieppe, and detained a Frenchman in connection with the murder of Charles Ballada, a compatriot.)
