HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES
A SUBSTANTIAL RETURN The heavy traffic motor fees received in Wellington for the vear ended March 31, amounted to £13,290 15s. When the amount received in Hutt Road fees for the year (£10,761 19s. 4d.) is added to the above it will be seen that the amount subscribed by the motor-owning community of Wellington and suburbs amounts to at least £24,Oak 14s. 4d. , , As a matter of fact when the suburbs are taken into consideration the amount will be considerablv in excess of. that sum, as Betone, Hutt, Upper Hutt, Johnsonville, and Eastbourne, local bodies are registering authorities lor the purpose of collecting fees on heavy traffic vehicles. With the possibility of this amount increasing each vear, with the rapid growth of motor traffic, the finance for better roads in the immediate future is substantially guaranteed.
