An extremely painful accident occurred recently to a Gisborne Harbour Board employee, Mr. K. McGregor (says the "Poverty Bay Herald’’). Mr. McGregor was employed as coxswain rn a lioppcr barge, and when the mishap occurred was manipulating the windlass which controls the trap in the barge. It is believed that either his hands slipped off’ the handle, or. that the ratchet of the windlass failed to grip’’; in anj case, the handle flew round, and hit tin- unfortunate man full in the month. His injuries wore extremely painful, every tooth being knocked out or loosened lo such nn extent as to necessitate removal.
