CHINESE CONFLICT

FLIGHT OF GOVERNMENT HEAD REPORTED (Rec. March 28, 5.5 p.m.) Peking, Majrch 27. Communication between Tientsin and Peking has been cut since yesterday. This is believed to indicate fighting in the vicinity of Yangtsun. Chinese circles .in Shanghai report that General Tuan Chi-jun, head of the Government at Peking, has fled to the Japanese Legation and that Marshal Wang Shih-chen, who recently was most active in peace proposals between the combatants, has taken temporary charge of the Government at Peking, but so far there is no confirmation of this.—Reuter.
