The Marine Department announces that during daytime the dredger Mawhera will bo operating off the lower end of the Crane Wharf, at Westport and will work in a direction upstream. sunset and sunrise the dredger will bo moored alongside the Crane Wharf, and will exhibit front her outside Quarter and bow respectively, one all-round white light 4. red flag will be shown from the dredger, during dredging operations, indicating which side of the dredge vessels inward bound arc to pass. Vessels must not pass between the dredger and the wharves unless instructed to do so by the harbourmaster. , Care should be taken to avoid fouling the dredger moorings. and vessels at all times when passing the dredger must do so at reduced speed. MATATUA LEAVES COLON. . Cable news has been received by the Shaw. Savill and Albion Co. that the Matatua left Colon on March 19 for London en route from Bluff. The vessel sailed from Bluff on February 23. MIDDLESEX LEAVES PANAMA. The Federal Co. have been advised that the Middlesex arrived at Panama on Sunday for Boston, New \ork. Vest Coast of Great Britain and London, on route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on February 28. CARGO FROM ST. JOHN. News has been' received by the Row Zealand Shipping Co. that the \\ er rail has been withdrawn from the Eastern Canadian loading berth, and the Baron Murray instead will take the berth, the ’latter vessel is to sail from St. John on April 20 for New Zealand ports. PORT HOBART LEAVES PANAMA. Tho C. and D. Line have received cable news that the Port Hobart loft Panama on Saturday for Lyttelton, and . other New Zealand ports. The vessel is due at Lyttelton on April 10. THE TAIROA. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.’s steamer Tairou arrived at Wellington at 7.35 a.m. yesterday from Lyttelton and berthed at tho Glasgow Wharf to complete loading for Home. The vessel is to said finally from Wellington on Saturday for London, via Montevideo and Toneriffe. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain A. CARGO FROM CANADA. 'lhe New Zealand Shipping Co. have been advised by cable that the Sally Maersk arrived at Louisberg on March 20 to commence loading for New Zealand ports. The vessel will till up at St, Johu, and 18 to sail finally from that port late ill March lor the Dominion.
KIA ORA LEAVES COLON. The bhnw, Savill and Albicu Co. have been advised that tho Kia Ora left Colon on March 22 for London, en route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from here ou February 27. TREKIEVE LEAVES LYTTELTON. Tho G. 11. Scales Co.’s chartered steamer Trckievo sailed from Lyttelton at daybreak yesterday for Dunkirk. Hull, London and AVcst Hartlepool. The vessel is proceeding via the Capo Horne route. THE TONGARIRO. Next Sunday afternoon the New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Tongariro is due at Wellington from Port Chalmers to till up. The vessel will sail finally from AVellington next AVeduesduy for London, via Panama. THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. The Canadian Challenger left Timaru last night for Dunedin, fyom which port she is to sail on Saturday for AVcllington. Tho vessel is due here on Monday morning for loading and will subsequently proceed to Auckland to fill up. From Auckland the Canadian Challenger is to sail finally on April 1 for New York, Boston and Montreal. MANUKA AT BLUFF. The Manuka arrived at Bluff from Melbourne at noon yesterday. She is to leave there at 5 p.m. to-day for Dunedin, Lyttelton, and AA r ellington. and is due here on Sunday. MISCELLANEOUS'. The Athenic will sail from AVellington at 4 p.m. to-day for Lyttelton for Homeward loading. The Federal Co. advise that the Surrey will now leave AVellingtou at daybreak to-morrow for AVest Coast of Great Britain and London. The livington Court is to leave Auckland to-day for AVestport to replenish her bunkers. The Tasmania was delayed in loading at Gisborne yesterday by bad weather. Tho Argyllshire was detained in the AA’anganui roadstead yesterday by bad weather, which hampered loading. The Inkula arrived at Timaru at 2 p.m. yesterday from Lyttelton to continue discharge. Tho vessel will leave Timaru this evening for Dunedin. Tho Port Victor will now sail from Lyttelton to-morrow night for Dunedin to complete discharge. The vessel was delayed at Lyttelton yesterday by rain. The Kiwitea cleared AVellington at noon yesterday for AVestport to load for AVellington.
The Kauri is due at AVellington to-mor-row with coal from Newcastle. The Kawatiri left Sydney at 1 p.m. on Tuesday for Fiji. The AVaipahi left AVellington last night for Nanici* and Auckland. She is to blear Auckland on AVedncsday for Napier, AVellington and Dunedin, Tho Komata from AVestport is due at AVellington on Sunday. The Opihi, from Dunedin. Oamaru, Timaru and Lyttelton, is due at AVellington to-morrow. She is to leave to-morrow night for Nelson and New Plymouth. The Kartigi is to clear AVellington at noon to-day for Lyttelton to complete the discharge of her cargo of cement from Portland.
The Kaimanawa is to leave Portland to-day with cement for AVellington and Lvttelton. She is duo here on Sunday and is to leave for Lyttelton on Monday.
