PREVALENCE OF DENGUE FEVER
CAUSES CONSTERNATION IN AUSTRALIA. Sydney, March 1. The recent prevalence of dengue fever has caused some consternation and raised the question of its spreading to other parts of the Commonwealth and elsewhere. Medical opinion mostly negatives the fears of its taking hold ©utside tropical and sub-tropical areas. The type of mosquito responsible for dengue has not been located south of Newcastle, though other and more common types have been exceptionally prevalent and troublesome during the present year, and almost a scourge in many districts—Press Assn.
