Hedgehogs have become fairly common around Wellington, and at night (Ley frequently fall victims to the motor cars on the suburban streets. The bright lights dazzle them, and they fail to escape tho oncoming cars. On Sunday night, in Aloxham Avenue, a full-grown hare was killed in this way, and a lucky resident promptly bagged the "game” and "potted” him. Of late years hares have increased in numbers in the plantations on the Kilbirnie side of the hills, and a considerable amount of damage to joung trees has been reported by the corporation forester.
