COUNCIL ABOLITION
RIGHT OF PEOPLE TO BE CONSULTED
SUGGESTED MEMORIAL TO THE KING
, Sydney, February 13. A meeting of the New South Wales Parliamentary Country Party discussed the proposal of the Government to abolish the Legislative Council, and suggested that a memorial should be sent to the King. The consensus of opinion, was thdt the real issue was not so much the abolition of the council as the method adopted by the present Government to make what is a violent change in the State Constitution without recognising the right of the people of tlie State to be consulted. It is considered that an appeal _to the King in the form of a memorial is necessary and justified.—Press Assn.
