MINING SOVIET?
CAUSE OF BRITAIN’S COAL TROUBLES London, February 11. “People plotting to form a mining Soviet are at the bottom of the troubles in the coal industry,” said the Duke of Northumberland, in a speech at Birmingham. "Other factors contribute, but the prime cause is the fact that three-fourths, of the miners belong to an organisation aiming at the ruin of the mines in order to get them and auxiliary trades handed lock, stock, and. barrel to themselves.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. AUSTRALIANS JOIN INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION. London, February 11. Mr. Frank Hodges, in announcing that the Australian Miners’ Union has been affiliated to the International Miners’ Federation, expresses a hope that it will not be long before a delegation from Australia attends the meetings of the international body. He expected that the New Zealand Miners’ Union would be affiliated shortly.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
