A five-seater motor-car, 1 travelling down Manukau Road to-night, skidded near Greenwood’s Corner, Epsom, turned completely round, and was almost cut in half by a tramway pole. The driver, Thomas Meachem (aged about 50), residing at Parnell, was killed instantly. Meachcm was an assistant locomotive foreman in the Railway Department, Auckland. ThcZr were two passengers. Colonel Ennis retired, a visitor from Wellington, sustained severe injuries, a scalp wound, and injuries to his back, and was removed to the hospital. '1 lie other passenger was Mr. Robert Carroll, of Parnell, who escaped 1 without injury.
