LEGISLATION TO ABOLISH COUNCIL.
Sydney, January 18. Following a Cabinet meeting, Mr. J. T. Lang, the Premier, announced that the Government intended to adhere to its plans and take steps this, week for the abolition of the Legislative Council. MEMBERS OF COUNCIL TO RETAIN PRIVILEGES.
(Rec. January 19, 9.30 p.m.) Sydney, January 19. In the Legislative Assembly Mr. McTicrnan, Attorney-General, introduced the Legislative Councillors Bill, winch provides that in the event of the abolition of the Council, members of that Chamber shall retain all the privileges they are at present enjoj ing. —- Press Assn.
