THE EXHIBITION

MINISTER GREATLY IMPRESSED

By Telegbai’h—l’bess Association

Dunedin, January 19

The ninth week of ’the exhibition closed on Monday night with an attendance record of 1,096,659, a result which is far ahead of the most sanguine expectations of the promoters. A contributing factor has been the delightful summer weather of the last few weeks.

Sir James Parr, who is spending a week at the exhibition, expressed his surprise at the vast extent of the exhibition buildings and at the high quality of the exhibits throughout, and said tliat he had been much impressed bv the beauty and great educational value of the British Government court. ■The New Zealand Government had every reason to be satisfied with the very fine displays in its pavilion and the secondary industries pavilion was an eye-opener as to the variety and quality of Dominion mnnufactiues. The education court’s fame had spread abroad, and he was proud, ns Minister of Education. that thev had done this thing so well. He offered the heartiest congratulations of the Government on the success of the court and the exhibition. The moving map of the ■world, “that wonderful bit of geography in that wonderful pool.” he said, was worth an hour of anv child’s time.
