TEACHERS’ SUMMER SCHOOL

Bl TiLEGRAPH-—PItF.SS ASSOCIaTTOW Cambridge, January 19. The first Teachers’ Summer School held in the North Island commenced at Cambridge yesterday. Nearly two hundred teachers from all parts of the North Island arc present, and the lecturers include Professor Shelley (Canterbury College), Dr. Marshall, Air. Milner, C.M.G., Dr. Buck, Mr. Varley, and Mr. Hudson. The visitors were officially welcomed bv the Mavor at a big ijithcring in the Town Hall last night, after which Mr. Milner, rector of the Waitaki Boys’ High School, delivered a lecture dealing with the problems of the Pacific, and making a strong pica for an international spirit. The school will continue for ten davs, and the elaborate programme includes lectures in the mornings and evenings, the afternoons being devoted to games and amusements. The school is in the nature of an experiment, and promises to be a great success in every wav. .
