MAORI TEAM FOR FRANCE
AUSTRALIANS FOR ENGLAND
Dlr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, informed a Dominion reporter yesterday that it was almost certain that the visit of a Maori team to France would eventuate. Advice had been received from the French Rugby Federation that it had appointed a French tourist agency to make arrangements for the tour. 'The information had also been received that passages for the Maoris had been pencilled for the team to travel from Sydney to Dlarseilles by the Dlessageries Maritimes Line. It was anticipated that the team would be required to leave New Zealand in July, but definite information on this and other matters was expected shortly in reply to a cablegram sent by the New'Zealand Union.
Advice lias been received from England that the English Rugby Union is likelv to extend an invitation to the Australian Rugby authorities to send an Australian team to England in the 1927-28 season. Mr. £<. S. Dean, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, explained yesterday that at: the last meeting of the English Rugby Union it was decided to urge the utmost necessity for the establishment of an Advisory Board on the lines advocated at the Imperial conference in 1924.
