President Doumergue, of France, and Signor Scialoja, as President of the League Council, inaugurated the International Institute for Intellectual Co-operation in the presence of the Diplomatic Corps, League representatives, many distinguished scientists and litterateurs. M. Painleve, who is the president of the managing committee, said that the institute was intended to co-ordinate and harmonise the intellectual efforts of nations in the spirit of disinterestedness characterising the League, thus enabling the nations to comprehend one another better, thus gradually building up the edifice of international peace. — Reuter.
