Sir James Parr was one of the guests at a dinner given by the British Commission to the Exhibition directors. In the course of an address of congratulation (states a Press Association telegram from Dunedin), he stressed the importance of this year's Imperial Conference. He also referred to Empire trade, stating that the Cabinet had only recently given Britain a contract in which there was a difference of 20 per cent, against her as compared with a foreign tenderer.
