SUCCESSFUL ITALIAN MISSION
GOOD VIEW OBTAINED
Bi Telegraph.—Press Association. OoPIRIGIIT. (Rec. January 17, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, January It. According to a telegram from Kismayn, Jubaland, the Italian astronomical mission to study the solar eslipse secured successful results. Three observatories were installed, and the observers had a full view of the phenomenon for 2 hours 11 minutes, and secured a number of photographs, also important data. —Reuter. SCIENTIFIC RESULTS DOUBTFUL (Rec January 17, 5.5 p.m.) Weltevreden, January 16. Reports of the sun’s eclipse state ttiat although visible at Bencoolen, the scientific results are doubtful, owing to nearly invisible cirrus clouds. The corena and protuberances, lioweycr, were splendid. It is authoritatively stated that all the photographic plates rafcen to prove the Einstein theory will most probably be valueless.—Reuter. EINSTEIN AWARDED GOLD MEDAL London, January 15. The Roval Astronomical Society has awarded Dr. Einstein its gold medal for si relativity theory.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
