SOUTH AUSTRALIA MAKES 475 RUNS (Rec. January 14, 11.35 p.m.) Sydney, January 14. In the Sheffield Shield match, South Australia v. New South Wales, So»th Australia in the first innings made 475 runs (Grimmett 32, A. Richardson 153). Andrews took three wickets for 34 runs, Kelleway two for 83, Macartney two for 83. New South Wales in the second innings had three wickets down for 294 runs (Collins 84. Macartney 113, Kippax 41, Kelleway not out 35) when stumps were drawn. The weather was fine and the wicket good. The South Australian batsmen vigorously attacked their oppanents’ bowling in a successful effort to avoid a follow-ou. Macartney played at the top of his form and gave a fine display. In a partnership with Collins he rattled the score along at a great rate. Collins was much slower and played a careful, sound innings.—Press Assn.
