THROWN FROM A HORSE

ACCIDENT AT CARTERTON. While motoring through Carterton vesterdav morning, Messrs. D. S. Wylie, of Auek'land, and W. J. Keyes, were considerably surprised to discover . a man Iving upon the side of the road in great agony. This proved to be Air. Cadwalladcr, a well-known farmer of that district, who was lying face downwards 011 the roadway, and could not move his kgs. It appeared as if His back hail been seriously injured. 'Hie injured man was assisted to a mote comfortable position, and Mr. Wylie then proceeded to the nearest farmhouse, and telephoned for medical assistance. Dr. Young arrived promptly, accompanied by an uncle of the injured man, who was conveyed in a taxi-cab to the Greytown Hospital. Air Cadwallader who was conscious when’ Messrs. Wylie and Keyes arrived, explained that lus horse had shied, and that he had been thrown verv heavily. A bov who witnessed the accident stated that the unfortunate man landed on his back on the roadwav with great force. Dr. Young was hopeful that the consequences of the accident would not be serious.
