INCREASE OF ELEVEN CASES The bulletin issued by the Wellington district health office for the week ended 9 a.m. yesterday showed an increase of eleven infectious diseases reported, as compared with the previous week’s return. The following are the details, the previous week’s figures being given in parentheses:— Taranaki-Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 2 (3) ; diphtheria, 5 (7) ; cerebro-spinal meningitis, 2 ( —) ; pneumonia influenza, 1 ( —) ; total, 10 (15). Wairarapa-East Cape: Scarlet fever, 1 (2) ; diphtheria, 9 (1) ; enteric fever, 3 (2) ; tuberculosis, 2 (3) ; erysipelas, 2 (1) ; pneumonia, 2 ( —) ; leth. encephalitis, 1 ( —) ; pneumonia influenza, 2 ( —); trachoma., 1 ( —) ; total, 23 (10). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 11 (7) ; diphtheria, 7 (3) ; Erysipelas, 1 (1) ; pneumonia, 1 (1) ; total, 20 (17). Nelson-Marlborough: Diphtheria, 1 (—); total, 1 (1). Grand total, 54; previous week, 43.
