* — CONSTABLE STABBED TO DEATH. Melbourne, January 9. Dominico Condello was committed for trial on a charge of murdering Constable Clare in a street in North Melbourne on Christmas Eve.—Press ■Assn. [Constable Clare was stabbed to the heart in front of crowds of Christmas shoppers. Clare was off duty and in plain clothes when he met two other plain clothes men. The party saw a number of Italians quarrelling, and as Clare np.ssed one of the Italians bnmried into him, and before he could defend himself he was knocked down, and while on the ground was stabbed.]
