TARANAKI TOURNAMENT.

After four days of glorious weather, during which many splendid displays of tennis were witnessed, the Taranaki Association’s annual tournament almost concluded to-day. The championships resulted Men’s Singles.—E. Bartlett (Auckland) beat M. Lampe (Wanganui), 2—6, 6—2, 9—7, 3—6, 6—l. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Rundle (New Plymouth) beat Miss Lloyd (New South Wales). 3—6, 6—3, .6-4. . Men’s Doubles. —C. Webster (New Plymouth) and E. Smythe (Wellington) beat H. Brinsden and E. W. Griffiths (Auckland), 7—9, 6—3. 4—6. 6—2. 6—3. Ladies’ Doubles.—-Miss Brewster (New Plymouth) and Miss Lloyd (New South Wales) beat Mrs. Robson and Miss Ramsay (Aqckland), 6—4, 4—l. The last set was abandoned. Girls’ Singles.—Miss I. Brownlie (Auckland) beat Miss N. Thorpe (Strata ford). 6—2. 6—4. Boys’ Singles.—P. McCarthy (Hawcra) beat G. McHardy (New Plymouth). 6—o. 6—3. The Combined Doubles arc to be decided to-morrow between Brinsden (Auckland) and Miss Brewster (New Plymouth) and Haege (Victoria) and Miss Simpson (New Plymouth). ARGENTINA TO ENTER FOR DAVIS (UP. Buenos Ayres, January 7. The Argentine Lawn Tenuis Association on Thursday decided to enter a team for the 1926 Davis Cup matches.— Reuter. When Davis Cup plavcrs, Patterson and Hawkes, gave exhibition matches in Auckland, thev demanded Spaldings’ plugless tennis balls. —Advt
