MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Charles Grieve Robertson, who pleaded guiltv to a charge of using obscene language, was fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment. On a charge of drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. James Joseph Clarence McLaughlin, who appeared for sentence ou a charge of theft of £2l 10s. Id., the property of Catherine Wood, was sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment. Charged with attempted theft of a gold watch, chain and pendant, of a total value of £l5, from Angus Harry McNabb. George Gardiner was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment.
