ALARMS POPULACE OF COLOGNE. Cologne, January G. An earthquake shock took place at 12.40 a.m. with a duration of five seconds. Buildings shook violently and many people rushed unclad into the streets and spent the night in the open. The damage was slight, only the districts adjacent to the Rhine being affected.—Reuter.
SHARP SHAKE AT SAN FRANCISCO (Rec. January 7, 9.5 p.m.) San Francisco, January G. A sharp earthquake was felt in the San Francisco Bay region to-night. There were two distinct shocks of five seconds.—Reuter.
