FRONT-WHEEL WOBBLE

l f ront-whcel wobble may be caused by badlv worn shackles and pins, or by the ’steering gear being worn c , s : necially on those parts winch hold the wheels in the “straight” position. Steering jaws and pins should, be renewed or rebushed before getting into bad condition; otherwise they will cause wobble and erratic steering. On most cars provision is made to take up wear. In central pivot chain control steering much wobble may be caused by slack chains, but they should not be allowed to get slack, for they can easilv be kept adjusted. Excessive wear on worm and worm-wheel accounts for a good deal of this trouble, which in that case can be cured by turning the worm-wheel from top and bottom and then cutting a new’ keyway. '
