Sheep stealer and outlaw, the terror of the Mokoreta (Southland) district came to an end of his gory career a few davs before the opening of the exhibition (states the Dunedin “Star”). With his long and beautiful white tusks, this massive boar, whose length is 6ft. from snout to tail, looks savage vet as lie peers from behind the bush at the south end of the Southland Court at the exhibition. It was a long chase that ended in his capture, and apparently a lucky shot —for the husky savage bears on his bodv the marks of thirty-three bullet wounds. He was evidently a living target in his time, and his imperviousness to the repeated onslaughts of the huntsman stamps him as an historical pig. and is an additional good reason for a visit of inspection.
