BACK TO WORK
> AFTER-HOLIDAY RUSH
Saturday and Monday saw large crowds of people flocking to the various railway stations in an effort to get back to business after the Christmas and New Year holidays, and in many cases those who had prolonged their stay away from home until the last minute-were left behind. Manv business folk had not returned to Palmerston North yesterday morning, and on making inquiries a Dominion representative was informed that on Saturday some 300 would-be passengers failed to get away on the evening Limited. The Dominion service cars which arrived with the Taranaki, Manawatu, and Hawke’s Bay papers at an early hour yesterday morning were also packed to capacity, and such spare room as was available was soon snapped up by people anxious to get home. People Were streaming into Palmerston North and the district by every available means of transport yesterday. Motor services are doing record business, and even the Napier service had to run extra cars yesterday. Passengers on the trains count themselves lucky to get standing room. It is a case of getting home the best way one can.
