NARROW ESCAPE ON LEVEL CROSSING

Stratford, December 29.
A lorrv with sixteen passengers, returning to New Plymouth, narrowly escaped bcign smashed bv a race special last night. The driver turned over a crossing, and the lorrv escape. 1 , by inches. Theo Skoglulid, a fanner, seeing tlie danger, made a firing leap and landed on his head. He was removed to the hospital in a critical condition, with a fractured skull.
