HEAVY BOOKINGS
Nearlv 6000 people booked trips by the railways from Christmas Eve to Boxing Dav, inclusive. Thorndon liad the heaviest traffic of the three booking offices by a large margin, the figures being: Christmas Eve 1752, Christmas Day 430, Boxing Day 2116, a total of 4298 persons, an increase of 1714 over last year’s figures. Lambton, with 800 on Boxing Dav for tlie Hutt Valiev and 200 beyond Upper Hutt, and the Central Booking Office, which issued 871 tickets on Christmas Eve, but onlv a few on Boxing Dav, supplied the remainder of the total, which, in view of the southern exodus, compares very favourably with last year’s total.
