TAR CATCHES ALIGHT

’ALARM AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

Shortly before 9 a.tn. yesterday a cloud of smoke in the vicinity of the Palmerston North Central School aroused a considerable amount of public curiosity. A large number of people made their way in that direction only to find that a tin of tar, being boiled for asphalting a tenuis court, had caught alight at the rear of Mr. F. Jackson’s residence in Annandale Road. The Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene and extinguished the flames before anj' damage had been done.
