EARTHQUAKE IN PALMERSTON

Palmerston North, December 24

’At 3.48 on Thursday a fairly violent earthquake lasting for several seconds was felt in Palmerston North. Before the actual shakes several rumbles were felt by those in the streets and more particularly bv the occupants of the highest buildings, and between two good shakes were a number of tremors. These continued for a while after the second disturbance and many a mind was relieved when the earthquake had completely subsided.
