MANNERS STREET REST ROOM

A NEAT LAY-OUT

The ground attached to the pew rest room for women and children in Manners Street is at last being laid out in some kind of order. The land round the building, and extending before it to the junction of Dixon and Manners Street, is being neatly divided into grass plots, flower beds, and concrete paths, the whole to be surrounded by a low concrete kerb. The plan shows a few shrubs planted at the back and sides of the rest room, and a few garden seats flanking the concrete paths. A good deal of the rubbish from the surface has been removed, to be replaced with good black loam. The reserve when completed should be as welcome as an oasis to the eve at Courtenay Place west, as the glorious pohutukawas (now in full bloom) are at Courtenay Place east.
