CHANGES FOR BETTER IN LONDON HOSPITALS

ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT TREATMENT

Many changes for the better have been made in London hospitals as regards accommodation of the patients, the possibilities for open-air treatment, and the facilities for diagnosis and modern methods of treatment.

Such is the opinion of Dr. Charles F Morice, who has just returned from a'visit to Great Britain and the Con‘‘"nterviewed by a Dominion reporter yesterdav, Dr. Morice stated that hospitals in London were at a disadian tage through being housed m old buildings, but it was very ’nteresting to observe the changes for the better which had been made in the fifteen years since he had last, visited Ejßland. Great use, he said, was being made in London of ultra violet rays or artificial sunlight treatment, with which wonderful results were b ein ß obtained. "It was very interesting, said Dr. Morice, “to observe wnat a large number of Australian and New Zealand natives were occupying important positions in the medical world at Home. A number of the youngei men are engaged in scientific research at several of the medical schools. A Visit to Spahlinger.

When in Geneva Dr. Morice was invited to visit Spahlinger’s labors, torv. and was much interested m the work he found being done there He considers there are great possibilities in this method of treatment, but as his visit only extended over two hours in the afternoon he would not presume to give a definite opinion upon so large and important a subject In July last a committee of medical men from the British House of Com, mons spent a week in Geneva investigating Spahlinger’s methods and as a result of the very favourable report issued bv that committee he hoped that liberal financial aid would be forthcoming to enable this very earnest investigator to continue to produce his sera and vaccines in large quantities. Dr. Morice attended the Medical Conference at Bath in July last, which was composed of delegates from all parts of the world.
