BUTTER CHAMPIONSHIP

« RESULT OF WORLD COMPETITION NEW ZEALAND FACTORY PLACED FIRST By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Aug. 19. The world’s butter championship competition, conducted in conjunction with the Auckland Winter Exhibition, was won by Rangiwahia-Ruahine Following are details of the points with the exception of those for finish, every entry being awarded five points in that de-

The report of the judges was as follows:—"As was to be expected the quality of butters from different countries varied considerably. Similar characteristics in butters from the same country were noticeable. Half the entries in the classes came from overseas, and many were of good quality, although all butters were held in cool storage _ for practically the same time before judging. This condition militated against some of the countries which are not accustomed to make butter for long storage, although some pleasing exhibits were received from these countries. The first prize butter shown by a New Zealand factory was of very high quality, and was closely followed by a very fine entry from Queensland. Three New Zealand exhibits came next in order of merit, and were followed by a very nice entry of Irish butter. The body and texture of a number of the exhibits were hardly up to the standard of, the world’s championship, and the colour in a number of cases was streaky.” BY TfiLEGB-S I’ll .'■e'C'i '■'•LKi'SPnx’pcyT Auckland, August 19. During the year ended March 31 the Rangiwahia Company’s export butter received an average grading of 93.35 points. It was twelfth on the official list published by the Department of Agriculture, the" highest average for the season being 91.17 points. The manager of the factory is Mr. G. J. Arnold.
