WATERSIDERS CONVICTED By Telegraph—Press AssociationAuckland, August 19. In the Magistrate’s Court two watersiders, Walter Ernest McLean and Janies Walter Daniel Kennedy, .were charged with the theft of a rdll of silk, valued at 7s. 6d., from the Turakina, and both denied knowledge of the pillaged case. The Magistrate said that as neither of the accused had previously been before the Court he would fine each £2O and 30s. costs. McLean was further charged with the theft of a rubber coat valued at 305., which was found in accused’s home, and identified as similar to the coats pillaged from the steamer Dawson. McLean was convicted and sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment.
