MANGAHAO POWER
SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS Ou Sunday evening at a. very awkward time something went wrong with the governors of the generators at the Jiangahao hydro-sleet tie power house, with the result that the current faded away until there was a complete cut-off. As the city station at Evans Bay was only carrying a very light load at the time, and other boilers would have had to bo brought into action before the load could bo increased (which cannot ho. done in a few minutes) there was a cessation <>f power for half an hour in the city, and upwards of forty minutes in the distant suburbs. Another hold-up occurred on Tuesday, shortly after 1 p.m.. just when a full load was needed for the tramway rush, and all power was cut off for ten minutes or so. Apart from the inconvenience (hose rather fre rt u"nt cause, there is bein'* created a foolin'* of nnoorfaintv in the new source <-f sunnlv of nowor. wlv'ch was not bargained for when the City Council made its agreement with tha Government.
