DOMINION AWARD CLAIMED. The New Zealand Performing Musicians’. Union has filed a claim for a Dominion award. The wages claimed ato <£B a week for grand opera, grand ballet, concerts, or religious performances; all principal instruments £1 per week extra; leader, £3 per week extra; casual, each performance, £1 12s. 6d., and leader 10s. extra; if 12 performances or rehearsals and performances, £l2 15s. per week where six or more performers are engaged; loss than six musicians, £l3 ss. per week for 12 performances and rehearsals: £l4 ss. per week for pianist alone at picture shows for 12 performances. Provision is also sought for races, country engagements, cabarets, hotels, shows, 'weddings, bazaars, etc. . A comprehensive scale of conditions is also provided for. Preference is asked for, and there is a claim that employers supply the union with a list of names of all new employees at monthly intervals.
