SHIPPING DISPUTE
CLIMAX EXPECTED AT MELBOURNE MONARO’S CREW PAID OFF Melbourne, June 15.. Developments which occurred during the week-end have changed the delaying of the steamer Monaro from being an isolated case of union, interference to one affecting the inter-State shipping policy. It is now believed in maritime circles that this dispute will lead to a climax in the tangled affairs of the waterfront. The Melbourne Steam Ship Company has decided to pay off the Monaro’s crew and tie the vessel up—Press Assn. (Rec. June 15, 10.50 p.m.) Melbourne, June 15. The Wharf Labourers’ Union has declined to handle cargo from the Monaro unless steam is supplied by the union donkeymen.—Press Assn. INTER-STATE HOLD-UP EXPECTED (Rec. June 15, 10.50 p.m.) Sydney, June 15. The opinion in shipping circles is that there will be a hold-up in interstate shipping following upon the deregistration of the Seamen’s Union. THE EROMANGA AND DILGA APPLICATIONS FBOM SEAMEN. Sydney, June 15. Tn response to an advertisement for seamen to man the steamers Eromanga and Dilga, at Cockatoo Island, a few men have applied, and hopes are now entertained that the ninety required will be forthcoming.—Press Assn
