MOROCCAN CAMPAIGN
SOUNDNESS OF FRENCH MILITARY POSITION STATEMENT BY PAINLEVE (Rec. June 15, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, June 14. Prior to his departure by aeroplane from Rabat, Painleve issued a statement emphasising the soundness of the French military position in Morocco. He announced that it was intended to send tanks and reinforce the Air Force. He admitted that the. enemy was pugnacious and ready for any sort of coup, but possessed few guns and machineguns.—Reuter. TETUAN RELIEVED FROM DANGER OF ATTACK Madrid, June 14. A communique announces that the Riffs were forced to retreat into the Macice Mountains, thus relieving Tetuan from danger of attack. —Sydney “Sun” Cable.
