NO FEAR OF MOTOR BUS COMPETITION
STATEMENT BY THE MAYOR "The only thing I would like to sav,” said the Mayor (Mr. C. J. B. Norwobd) vesterdav, when consulted about the pending bus competition with the trams in Wellington, "is that there is no need to fear that private ■. prise in running motor buses is likely to have any serious detrimental effect on our municipal undertaking. "We are, fortunately, in a position to meet nil competition, and the Tramways Committee is at present considering the whole problem. It is nro l - the council will find their own buses competing with their own trams in places. I wish to convey to the public that we are alive to the situation in all its bearings, and are in a position to meet and face all contingencies. Few places in Australia or New Zealand will be better served in respect to transport services when the complete programme of the Tramways Committee crystalises.”
