NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW

BUTTER AND CHEESE CLASSES JUDGES' AWARDS ANNOUNCED OUTSTANDING DUALITY OF PRIZE WINNERS The National Dairy Show will be opened at Palmerston North to-day. One of the features, as usual, is the display of butter and cheese. These exhibits have been judged by officers of the Department of Agriculture, whose awards were announced yesterday. In their report on the butter exhibits the judges said:—“lt is pleasing to note the uniform quality of the butter. The prize winners were of outstanding quality, and some difficulty was experienced in placing them in order of merit. The standard, although creditable, could not be said to have improved upon last year’s exhibits. The texture, salting, etc., left nothing to be desired. The number of exhibits is about on a par with previous years.” Commenting on the cheese exhibits the judges said:— “The quality is on the whole very satisfactory, flavour and make being uniform throughout. Several otherwise good quality exhibits have been penalised in points for finish. This matter requires special attention from a marketing point of view. Rimless cheese are in fair proportion among the exhibits, and no doubt this style of finis'h will predominate in future.”
