Presiding at the annual meeting of the Empire Cotton Growing Corporation the Earl of Derby estimated the Empire crop of cotton in 1924-25, exclusive of India, at 350,000 bales, compared with 249,000 in 1923-24, and 169,000 in 1922-23. It was decided to contribute £3OOO yearly for the maintenance of experimental farms in Australia. The expert, Mr. Evans, recommended that a specialist be appointed in Fiji to train demonstrators to assist the native cultivators.—Reuter.
