GANG OF MOTOR-CAR THIEVES
OPERATING IN AUSTRALIAN CITIES. (Rcc. Maj’ 7, 7.25 p.m.) Melbourne, May 7. Detectives have established the fact that a gang engaged in the systematic stealing of motor-cars, with branches in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, has been in operation over three years. One method is to rent garages, where cars are altered beyond recognition. Another is that a member of the gang buys a car and insures it, and a confederate steals the car and the gang collect the insurance,—Press Assn.
